How to Create a Free Microsoft 365 Account

Step 1

Go to Outlook and click "Create free account"

Create the first part of a unique email address. The system will end it with "@outlook.com"

Type in your new address and click “Next”

If the message tells you someone else is using your new email address, then you have successfully created your account. Close the window or tab.

Open a new window or tab and navigate to https://outlook.live.com/owa/

Click “Sign In” if needed

Note: the system may take you to Outlook instead. If so, skip to that step below.

Enter your new email address.

Click “Next"

This is the home page for Microsoft Word, a program you can use to create and edit word processing documents.

Most of the application activities in this course use Microsoft Word templates. This is the Microsoft OneDrive home page. One Drive is a program that allows you to store files on the internet (on the cloud).

If needed, click through the screens called “Let’s get you started” in the center.

If you ever have an offer to pay money for more storage or upgrade, you do not need to accept the offer or pay money. All of the assignments in this course can be completed using the free version of Microsoft 365.
