Manage and Submit Assignments Using an iOS device

The following instructions may not apply perfectly to your device depending on the version you have. If you have further questions, reach out to those who live near you for assistance, or you can search the internet for instructions on your specific device.

Step 1

Inside of Canvas, tap on the link to download an assignment template.

Step 2

Do NOT Open in "Word." You must first save to your files. Tap “More”

Tap More instead of opening the document in Word right away. By tapping More, it will lead you save your files.

Step 3

Tap “Save to Files”.

Tap Save to Files option.

Step 4

Choose or create a file folder. Tap “Save.

You can choose or create a file forlder for your document. Tap Save.

Step 5

Tap “Done”.

Tap Done which is located at the top-left corner of the screen.

Step 6

Find and open the “Files” app on your device.

Tap “Browse”.

Tap Browse.

Step 8

Locate the file you just downloaded. You can rename the file by pressing and holding your finger or thumb on the file icon. Tap the icon to open the file in the Microsoft Word App on your device.

Step 9

You may need to wait for the file to open.

Wait for a few seconds for the file to open.

Step 10

Tap the pencil icon to begin editing. The app will automatically save your changes to the file stored on your device in the “Files” app.

To begin editing, tap the pencil icon located at the top of the screen.

Step 11

When you are ready to submit a file to Canvas, tap “Submit Assignment.”

Tap Submit Assignment located at the bottom of the screen when you're ready to submit a file in Canvas.

Step 12

Tap the “Files” icon.

Tap the Files icon located at the bottom of the screen.

Step 13

On your device, tap “On My iPhone”.

Tap On My Phone in your device.

Step 14

Locate the desired file and tap on its icon.

Tap “Submit”.

Tap the Submit botton located at the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 16

The file is successfully submitted!
