Introduction to Formatting the Essay

A basic essay has at least three paragraphs in it:

An introductory paragraph
1. Hook
2. Thesis Statement
A body paragraph (can have more than one)
1. Topic Sentence
2. Supporting Details
3. Concluding Sentence and Transition
A concluding paragraph
1. Revisit the ideas and themes of the essay
2. Provide closure

This is the topic sentence, supporting details, and concluding/transition sentence. The third box is the Concluding Paragraph. This revisits the ideas/themes in the essay and provides closure.
